One of Britain’s leading sustainable design and Regulation compliance specialists.

  • Energy Performance Certificates

    Energy Performance Certificates

Energy Performance Certificates, or EPCs, are a product of the SAP calculation and provide each home owner with an overview of the thermal performance of their new home and a forecast on running costs, expressed as a SAP rating.

The production of EPCs are usually a time critical step at the end of a build and one of the last building regulation conditions to be discharged. At JSP we are appreciative of this urgency and produce many 1000s of certificates each year on time without compromising on accuracy.

  • Energy and Sustainability Statements

    Energy and Sustainability Statements

Many Local Planning Authorities include sustainable design and renewable energy policies within their Local Plans. Demonstrating that your development proposals are capable of complying with these policies is a necessary part of the planning process and the submission of a Sustainability or Energy Statement with a planning submission is usually a validation requirement.

We pride ourselves on writing and presenting accurate, uncomplicated and cost sensitive Statements. Our approach is valued by the developer and the concise presentation of proposals is appreciated by the planning officer.

  • SAP Calculations

    SAP Calculations

SAP, or Standard Assessment Procedure, is the Government’s calculation methodology for energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the new build residential sector and is the assessment metric for compliance with Part L1 of the Building Regulations. The Regulations were most recently amended in June 2022 and aim to deliver a 31% reduction in CO2 emissions over the previous 2013 version of Part L.

JSP provides the industry with many 1000’s of calculations each year. We are well experienced in giving developers advice on insulation and services specifications which will deliver compliance with Part L, but always appreciative of costs.

  • Air Leakage & Acoustic Tests

    Air Leakage & Acoustic Tests

Working with JSP guarantees access to a truly national network of ATTMA accredited test engineers. We can work to your build programme and promise the release of certificates the next working day.

  • Part O Calculations

    Part O is a recent addition to the building regulations. It seeks to limit excessive solar gains within homes and mandate sufficient natural ventilation to remove heat without recourse to mechanical cooling. There are two methods of compliance;

The Simplified Method concentrates on percentages or ratios of glass to floor area and equivalent free area to floor area. It is certainly the least complicated method of compliance, but can place undesirable restrictions on glazed areas, particularly if a home is westerly facing.

The Dynamic Model method utilises CIBSE TM59:2017, but with specific restrictions on the calculation unique to Part O.

We provide the industry with both methods of compliance. Again in a concise and uncomplicated reporting method.

  • Part G Calculations

Part G of the Building Regulations sets a minimum water efficiency standard of 125 litres per person per day. However, many Local Planning Authorities and utility companies set standards as low as 90 or 100 litres per person per day.

We can provide you with the specification standards and calculations to demonstrate compliance.
